  • Production: India produced approximately 242.12 lakh metric tons of onions in 2023-24. Major producing states included Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat, with Maharashtra alone contributing over 86 lakh metric tons.

  • Exports: For the financial year 2023-24, India exported around 16.07 lakh metric tons of onions, primarily to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.
